Pieterburen, THE NETHERLANDS

The centre is well organised. The care given to the seals is very intensive.
There are always carers by the pools for the seals and, at the same time, they are there to greet and inform us.
For us, it is a bit difficult to understand them but we get by with gestures.
What surprises us is that the centre works with only private donations : the people there give a lot.
Perhaps, it is because they are very friendly and so close to the animals that the centre works so well. Whatever it is we are amazed.

All day long we are able to watch the seals. They love to play. We were upset to see baby seals in intensive care, some suffering with infections, others injuries from boat propellers.

Fortunately, Pelote is doing well but it is difficult for us to recognise him as all seals look so much alike.

It's evening. What a  surprise ! Barbara takes us to eat on a barge tied up near the Pieterburen windmill ! It's like a dream ! We talk to the film crew : we have a super evening.

Very tired, they take us to sleep at a farm on the edge of Pieterburen. The people are very nice.

After a good night's sleep we tuck into a big breakfast.
